Bio

Derek Rigby, Neuro PA-C, joined the Bighorn Medical family in 2024.

Derek was born just outside Boston, MA but spent the majority of his childhood in Palm Bay, FL. He attended the University of Central Florida where he earned his BS in psychology. He then earned his Masters in Science in Physician Assistant Studies from South University in Savannah, GA.

He spent six years in interventional pain management in San Antonio, TX and Chattanooga, TN. He then spent almost another six years practicing in an orthopedic spine surgery practice in Chattanooga.

After two visits to Cody for vacation with his family, he and his wife decided this is where they wanted to continue raising their family. He saw a job posting with Dr. Poffenbarger and jumped at the opportunity to apply.

Over the following weeks and months, God made it clear that this is where they were meant to be. Derek is looking forward to expanding his knowledge base to include a wider range of neurological issues and is excited to serve the Cody community.

He and his wife, Katie along with their four boys; Logan, Connor, Jonah, and Asher are thankful to be in a community that promotes strong family values and to be in a place where they can spread their wings a little.
